My hypothesis is that several of these fundamental verbs could have been formed from basic nouns of Turkic or Uralic origin, using a derivational prefix *e-/*i- that converts nouns into verbs. For example, I propose that the verb *i-kus («to see») is derived from the Turkic term for «eye,» *i-bil («to walk») is related to terms meaning «leg» in Yeniseian and Uralic languages, and *e-kar («to bring») is associated with the word for «arm» in Proto-Altaic.

I highlight that these verbal roots in Basque do not have an internal explanation within the language, but they show significant correlations with Trans-Eurasian languages, especially Turkic and Tungusic. This leads me to suggest that there could be an ancient influence of these languages in the formation of Basque, challenging the idea that these similarities are mere coincidences.

Furthermore, I introduce the idea that certain terms shared with Chadic languages could have originated in an early Neolithic period when migrants with paternal lineages related to haplogroup R1b settled in Iberia with a culture of farmers from the Fertile Crescent, speakers of Afroasiatic. This genetic and linguistic connection could explain the presence of similar terms in Basque and Chadic languages, such as the terms for «javelin, arrow,» and ‘vulva,’ in Basque, and for ‘spear’ and ‘vulva,’ in Chadic.

Article at https://atlantisng.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Trans-Eurasian-Altaic-Origin-Especially-Turkic-of-Some-Basic-Basque-Verbs.pdf

Trans-Eurasian/Altaic Origin, Especially Turkic, of Some Basic Basque Verbs

In this document, I explore the possible Trans-Eurasian-Altaic influence, particularly Turkic, on some basic Basque verbs.
